Mera Expedition is a trekking and climbing at high altitude. Participants must adapt and be familiar with the use of hail and crampons. Instructions for using them will be provided at the base camp, near Mera if necessary. It is a significant experience as it offers breathtaking views of Nepal, as well as the east side of Kangchenjunga and Makalu and Mount Everest and the Nuptse appear in large areas south of the northern part of the Lhotse.

The landscape of the five mountains that rise above 8,000 meters is the mountain. Mount Everest, Mount Makaroo Lhotse, Mount Choo and Mount Kanchenjunga and other adjacent peaks offer us the best panoramic view of this type and can only be experienced from the top of Mera Peak. Nepalese trekking takes you along the foothills, terraced landscapes, rhododendron forests and ethnic villages to the mountains and the wildest areas you can imagine. Mera's climbing can be a challenge, but trained trainers and reliable travel company will do everything possible to make your trip safe and valuable.

Accommodations

We will be staying at 3 star hotels in Pokhara and Kathmandu and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. And Single supplement will be served on request and will have additional cost. We will have rooms with attached washrooms in most parts of the trek but according to place it can be afforded. In higher elevations single rooms are not available like in Kathmandu and the lower elevation regions but Himalayan Adventure Nepal will do our best for your happiness.

Meals

All meals will be served during hiking, while Kathmandu and Pokhara only offer breakfast. The hotel will also offer welcome and farewell dinner. The most common dishes on most menus are Nepalese, Tibetan, Indian and the most common Continental.

Can I accomplish this trek?

Though Mera peak is technical and more challenging you still need more stamina, however having some knowledge on using climbing equipments will still be an asset. There will also be a pre -ice climbing training for participants in the Mera Peak. The training will mostly be about using climbing gears such as ropes, ice pick, harness, crampons.

There are two dimensions for the Mera Peak climbing Adventure regarding its preparation g .Normally you need 5-6 hours of walking every day. In the summiting day however, you will be required to walk for up to for 10-12 hours. Himalayan Adventure Nepal advice you to prepare yourself by jogging 12 km every day for around 3 months before you start your trip. Your pre-existing medical conditions are very important such as heart, lung, and blood diseases to consult their doctor before taking the trip and you need to inform us before booking.

Best Time to Travel

Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and spring (March to May) are the best seasons for this trek. If you have some other time than this we can customize and make the trip viable.

Day by day

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1 Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (KTM) Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu at any time. Our airport representative will welcome you and explain the program further. There are no planned activities for the day, so check into the hotel. Enjoy your overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2 Free day/trekking and climbing preparation
Touring the World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley that includes: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Pasupatinath Temple. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 3 Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya (Chutok) (2,730m/8,956ft), Duration: 40 mins flight, 5-6 hours trek
We head to the airport early in the morning and take a flight to Lukla. The air route is fascinating in itself, flying above the greenery and White Mountains. Upon arrival, the guide will brief you and introduce our porters. We then begin our trek to the Chutok La pass (2945). Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 4 Paiya to Panggom (2,846m/9,337ft), Duration: 5-6 hours
Today, we trek from Chutenga and ascend steep to cross Zatrawala Pass (4610m.) and continue to Zatrabok (4704m) enjoying the spectacular views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi RI, Karyolang peak and many others. Then we descend to Khartitang at 3900m. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day5 Panggom to Ningsow (2,863m/9,393ft), Duration: 4-5 hours
Today we head towards Kothe. We take a steep descent trail through the juniper and rhododendron forest to reach Kothe. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 6 Ningsow to Chhatra Khola (2,800m/9,186ft), Duration: 7-8 hours
After enjoying our lunch at Kothe, we head towards Tangnang (4356m),(Sabal Tsho-Lake) penetrating the Hinku valley. The trial gradually ascends offering the scenic view of Kusum Kanguru. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 7 Chhatra Khola to Kothe (3,691m/12,109ft), Duration: 6-7 hours
Today is set aside for acclimatization. We rest at Tangnang. We wander around the valley and explore the local culture. We enjoy the scenic view of stunning peaks and glaciers. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day8 Kothe to Thaknak (4,358m/14,297ft), Duration: 3-4 hours
We climb up along the lateral moraine of the glacier. It provides an interesting view of Mera Peak. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 9 Thaknak to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft), Duration: 2-3 hours
We take rest at Khare. This is another day set aside for acclimatization. We prepare ourselves for climbing Mera peak. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 10 Khare- Acclimatization and pre–climb training
We progress along the snowy glacier and approach the pass. Overnight stay tented camp, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 11 Khare to Mera High Camp (5,780m/18,958ft), Duration: 6-7 hours
Today we continue to the high camp. We will be blessed with the stunning panoramas of giant mountains rising above 7000m i.e. Chamlang (7290m), Makalu (8475m) and Baruntse (7220m) to the east, Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8501m) and Nuptse to the north and Ama Dablam, Cho Oyo (8153meters) and Kantega to the west. Overnight stay tented camp, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 12 Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m/21,1907ft) and back to Khare (5045m/16,547ft), Duration: 8-9 hours
Today, the whole crew wakes up at around 1 a.m. for preparation. The climbers too have to wake up around 2.30 am. We have our breakfast and put on crampons and rope. Then we embark our journey to the summit. It takes around 4-6 hours to reach the summit of Mera. From the summit, we can see the spectacular views of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kanchenjunga (8,586m) Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7 ,129m) Ama Dablam (6,812m) Kangtega (6,779m) and many more. We then retrace our steps down to high camp. After a rest accompanied by some hot soups/tea, we continue down to Khare for the night. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 13 Reserve Day for Contingency
We cannot guarantee if the weather remains favorable on our planned day for the summit (day 12). So, this day is used just in case if we will be unable to summit the Mera Peak on day 12 due to bad weather or other reasons. We should wisely postpone our program of scaling the peak if the weather gets unfavorable. Sometimes you or your group members may get some problems in acclimatizing. This day may be used in case. If the trip goes smoothly, we do not need this spare day. Overnight stay at Guesthouse/Tented, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 14 Khare to Kothe (3600m/11808ft), Duration: 4-5 hours
We leave the mountains behind and descend to Tangnang. We continue towards Khothey. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 15 Kothe to Thuli Kharka (4,300 m/14,107ft), Duration: 5-6 hours
We trek back to Zatrabok. The trial offers magnificent view of alpine vegetation like huge rhododendron forest. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 16 Thuli Kharla to Lukla via Zatrwa La Pass, Duration: 6-7 hours
Today we head towards Chutenga. The trail ascends until we reach Zatrawala Pass and then again descends until we reach Chutenga. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 17 Fly to Kathmandu
Today, we walk downhill all the way to Lukla. We pass the forests of fir, rhododendron, oak, juniper and local vegetation enjoying the views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi RI, Karyolang peak, etc. Overnight stay at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 18 Leisure day in Kathmandu
Spend the day in Kathmandu, to rest or to explore, as per your inclination. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
Day 19 Tour Ends
Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight, a representative from the HAN will take you to the airport. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing.

  • Nepal entry visa - You can obtain the visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries for 15 days can be obtained by paying USD 25 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entries for 30 days and 90 days can be obtained by paying USD 40 and 100 respectively. Please bring 2 copies of passport size photos.)
